JEET KUNE DO - Our aim at the Impact Academy is to preserve and promote the original training methods & applications of Jun Fan Jeet Kune Do. JKD, the Art and Science of Bruce Lee is one of the most effective empty hand fighting systems to date. It is also training philosophy that allows the individual to mold, modify, adapt and improve upon their own physical expression of combat.
BUKA JALAN PENTJAK SILAT - Is an Indonesian fighting system that utilises striking, sweeps, throws, limb destruction and body manipulation as a method to control an opponent. It is purely a self-defence system basing it principles on the main goal of quickly and effectively defending an agressor.
KALI-ESCRIMA-ARNIS - Kali is a highly efficient and sophisticated weapons and empty-hands system from the Philippines. Although known mainly for its use and defence of weapons it's not limited to this. Besides excelling as a realistic self-defence system through its use of weaponry, training in Kali develops attributes such as speed, agility, timing, body mechanics and good co-ordination.
MUAY THAI - Called the science of the eight limbs (hands, elbows, feet, knees) Muay Thai is considered to be one of the most devastating martial arts in the world today. Practiced originally as military training and now as a brutal sport (the national sport of Thailand). The training methods are rigorous and demanding utilising padwork, conditioning and sparring.
BRAZILIAN JIU-JITSU - Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu (BJJ) is a sophisticated martial arts system that emphasises training in the grappling range. Students of this art will learn about takedowns, joint manipulations, chokes, how to achieve positional dominance on the ground and how to escape from less desirable positions. Emphasis is placed on leverage, and how to apply techniques with minimum strength. It can be performed with or without a gi, but the gi serves as a training tool and gives the student a greater element of control.
FREESTYLE SUBMISSION WRESTLING - We combine the training methods and theories, tools and techniques of Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu, Freestlye Wresting and Catch Wrestling to train clinch and controlling skills, take-downs and throwns, standing and ground submissions. Submission Grappling is highly athletic and helps to develop such attributes as speed, timing, strength, agillity and power.
